My name is Brad Bourn and since 2010, with your support, I have represented Southwest Minneapolis on the Park Board. It has been my honor to serve my hometown in this capacity and give back to the community that has given me so much. Being your Park Board Commissioner continues to be one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Today I can report a number of accomplishments, but like most things in life, our work is not yet done.

My work on the Park Board has focused on a simple premise: The parks are for everyone. This concept can be adapted to a number of the issues we face on the Park Board. Whether we’re creating recreation opportunities for inner-city kids, increasing maintenance to our trail system or building new playgrounds in southwest; my work is about inclusiveness and making sure we serve the diverse interests of our community.

Over the years I have focused on issues and projects that make our parks more accessible and more family and youth focused. I’ve worked to increase volunteerism, find sustainable funding solutions and fight efforts to privatize our parks. I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish and being named the Number 1 Park System in America despite facing steep funding challenges.

Please review some of my accomplishments over over my time on the Park Board.

Thank you again for your support over the last seven years and into the future! I’m honored to serve you and work to progress our shared values as your 6th District Commissioner on the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board.

Yours in service,

Brad
